Rest in Peace Cincinnati?
Rest in Peace Cincinnati? A raw dance party for the masses, The return of the ultimate, grizzly, sweaty, adrenaline-filled, dopalicious, unpretentious, tried-and-true mass dance party. Wallflowers will most definitely be kicked out of the Mockbee. Bboys you get the stage so the floor remains thick with the common cool kids just looking to catch a grind. Or trying their hardest to touch the ceiling. Either way, this is a certified fresh event as a collective of street culture organizations, sneaker boutiques, printmakers, and artists unite efforts to revive the genuine large scale dance party scene in the 513. Rest in Peace Cincinnati is the final culmination to the Cincinnati Dance Party Weekend beginning Friday, October 16th.
Cincinnati Dance Party weekend begins Friday Night at the Comet (4579 Hamilton Ave) with a party entitled "Don't Sweat the Technique" serving as the segue into Saturdays' Gypsy Festival. Get your dancing shoes prepped at this favorite Northside venue with a warning to all partygoers: "No Parking on the Dance Floor". Hosted by Nati emcee sensation, Buggs Tha Rocka, this is guaranteed to warm you up for the triple play weekend. Saturday begins at the Gypsy Café (117 Calhoun Dr) at 3pm serving you the best in hookah fare, tea, & live music at the "Gypsy Festival". The atmosphere is laid-back and relaxed soaking in the sounds of host Moxy Monster and featuring live bands and emcees galore representing all of Ohio. The Gypsy Festival is for the benefit of the Clifton and UC community and an annual affair of good music and good people.
As they say, after the show it's the afterparty… and this ain't your ordinary afterparty. The Mockbee (2260 Central Parkway) will play host to "Rest In Peace Cincinnati" with a unique blend of party-goers ranging from bboys to hipsters, college kids to thugs, old school to new prep, a very diverse cast of characters onsite with one sole purpose: to get down & dirty & dance… With the recent economic downturn, Cincinnati and many cities alike have been affected tremendously in the areas of entertainment for the masses. Rest In Peace is a movement to motivate the city to revive true, exciting events in this recession-driven environment and is a testament to those who came before us who have expanded their creative genius to other parts of the world. Finally, Rest In Peace Cincinnati is an event without equal- further solidifying our footprint to elevate above the generic "Top 40" nightclubs that have little to do with soul and music than money and greed. We have learned that raw creativity and energy integrated into an event reveals the genuine pleasure of the moment.

Moxy
Moxy (mock-zee) – n. slang terminology for something that possesses courage, or anything that can be described as flat-out ballsy.
Moxy’s career jumped off in 2004, but for all of his life, Ryan Welch has had something to say and more. To Moxy, hip-hop music is more than just poignant verses, catchy hooks and bangin’ beats. It’s finding harmony between all three, because people feel that. Because peace among this trinity is what makes people move. Heads nod; shoulders lean; and asses shake. Men roar; women scream; they all chant. Tensions rises or die, but everyone feels it. It’s all heart. It’s all feeling.
Ryan Welch felt that way about Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac and Outkast. People that touch our souls with words and involuntarily invade our mind’s gray matter. We all have our influences, and for the last five years the most influential rapper representing Cincinnati has been a monster named Moxy.
As far as the Nati is concerned, no other street album has gained has much buzz as his 2008, debut Moxyforyourbox. Since then, Moxy has headlined local venues, attracting major label artist like the Nappy Roots, Wale and Redman & Method Man. “I want people to feel good when they listen to my music.” Well, I don’t know if these are feel good times economically, but without doubt Cincinnati is feeling Moxy Monster.
Moxy has no reservations in sharing the love, endorsing local clothing boutique, aTYPICALsOLE. Moxy continues to network with his former crew, The Nati Kings, and is willing to work with any artist with the motivation and courage to speak truth from the heart.
Moxy is more than just hip-hop; he is music in hip-hop’s relic. He is inspired by rock, techno, grunge and world music of every genre. He is motivated to revive the game through a renaissance of rhyme and rhythm. “I want to do for hip-hop what Kurt Coban did for rock and the ‘80s hair band phase.” The game has no more vacancy for gimmicks and has ran out patience for trite up-and-comers, lacking artistic integrity.
GOALS: stay on top of my craft, get on top of this game and to become self-realized...to find peace
Buggs tha Rocka
